Essential Chinese Expressions is a High-Beginning Level Course course designed for middle school learners. It focuses primarily on listening and speaking, to help students master essential vocabulary, phrases, and sentence structures needed in everyday scenarios.
The course is for long-term fluency. The instructor provides extensive learning materials designed to serve as a reference guide long after the course ends. Because students have these resources for self-paced mastery, our live class time is for interactive learning, specifically:
Accurate Pronunciation: Perfecting the sounds of the language.
Practical Application: Mastering useful phrases and patterns.
Cultural Context: Understanding the nuance behind the words.
Who Is This Course For?
Students with prior exposure to Chinese who want to strengthen their communication skills.
Young learners preparing for real-world, culturally informed communication in Chinese.
Expected Outcome
Vocabulary: know around 600 basic Chinese words (at approximate HSK Level 3).
Pronounce Chinese accurately, including correct tones for common words and phrases.
Use practical phrases and sentence patterns for daily life, school, travel, and basic social interactions.
Apply foundational vocabulary and grammar in listening, and speaking, giving them confidence to continue to more advanced study.
Requirement
Students are encouraged—but not required—to have some prior exposure to Chinese. Students are also expected to study the vocabulary for each lesson throughout the week, using the accompanying audio files provided in the course materials.
All materials are all digital/included in Google Classroom.
Course Length & Tuition
The course has 12 lessons, divided into 4 stages with 3 lessons in each stage.
Each lesson is taught over 2 hours across 2 weeks, so each stage includes 6 class sessions (one hour per session). The full course takes 24 weeks to complete.
Payment Options:
Per Stage: $90 for each 6-week stage
Full Course: $360 one-time payment for all 24 weeks
